Over 1,000 people have died due to COVID-19 in India and more than 33,000 cases have been recorded in the country so far, as per the government.
New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 33,050, including 8,324 cured/discharged/migrated and 1,074 deaths as India is in the final days of the 40-day lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In the past 24 hours, 67 casualties were recorded.
1,718 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the past 24 hours.
The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, has climbed to 9,915 with 432 deaths.
Mumbai figures also jumped past 6,000-mark.
Follows Gujarat with 4082 cases of highly infectious coronavirus, second highest in the country.
Across the country, as 8,324 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 24.56 per cent this morning.
A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases neared 3,200,000 while the death toll crossed 227,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
