New Delhi| India’s Coronavirus cases grew past 5 lakh mark on Saturday as the country recorded another record single-day surge. In the last 24 hours, India recorded 18,552 new cases and 384 deaths as per the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total number of deaths in the country reached 15685. The active cases in the country now stand at 197387 whereas that recovered stand at 295881.
As unlock-1 set in the country, more than 3 lakh patients increased in the month of June. As of June 1, there were 1,98, 371 patients. That means in the 26 days of June, 3,11,095 patients increased and the number of infected people exceeded five lakh. On the positive side, the recovery rate in India has also increased rapidly. During this period the recovery rate also increased by 16% and now it has reached 58.26%.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state due to Coronavirus. It has recorded 5024 cases and 175 deaths, that has taken the total toll of cases and deaths to 152765 and 7106, respectively. Out of 5 lakh infected in the country, 30.01% of patients are from Maharashtra alone.
Delhi remains the second most-affected state with 77240 cases and 2492 deaths. It has overtaken Mumbai to become the worst-affected city due to the pandemic in the country. Delhi has 14.99% of the total cases in India.
The number of COVID-19 containment zones in Delhi will increase in the coming days after a re-mapping of such areas as authorities have decided to divide them into micro clusters for better surveillance and contact-tracing, officials said on Friday.
Meanwhile, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has given a statement on the rising cases of Coronavirus in the state. He said that looking at the cases which are being found from across the state, it can be said that Community transmission has begun. “We have to accept this truth,” Sawant said.
