Coronavirus Cases In India Cross 90,000, After Highest 1-Day Jump

India registered nearly 4,987 COVID-19 related cases in 24 hours, highest so far, amid lockdown alarming the governments across the country.

New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 90,927 including over 34,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 2,872 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.

In the past 24 hours, 120 casualties were recorded.

A staggering 4,987 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours, highest so far.

The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, reported 30,706
with over 1,135 deaths. It also recorded it’s the highest spike this week.

Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, figures climbed above 15,000.

Follows Gujarat with 10,988 cases of highly infectious coronavirus, third highest in the country.

Tamil Nadu witnessed the sharpest hike in fresh cases this week. Total cases in the state are 10,585.

Delhi recorded 9,333 COVID-19 cases and over 120 fatalities.

Across the country, at least 34,108 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 33%.

Currently, there are 53,946 active COVID-19 patients in the country.

India is the 11th most-affected nation in terms of the total number of confirmed cases, overtaking China.

A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 4,630,000 while the death toll crossed 311,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.

The United States has entered into a grim situation as it recorded 1.3 Million cases of COVID-19, about one-third of the entire world’s caseload, as per Johns Hopkins University data.
