Coronavirus: India Logs Highest Ever Single-Day Death Toll At 3780, Five new Covid-19 Strains Found In Nagpur

In the worst affected state Maharashtra’s Nagpur, 5 new coronavirus strains have been found. According to the report, these strains were found in 35 samples.

 

The second wave of Coronavirus in the country is creating havoc. After registering a decline in cases for 3 consecutive days, Tuesday, again, marked an increase in the number of new virus infections. In the last 24 hours, 3,82,847 new Covid-19 cases have been found in India. This figure is 9 times the number of new coronavirus patients in the world’s most affected country- the USA.

On the other hand, the number of people who lost their lives due to Coronavirus is constantly increasing. A record 3,780 people died in the last 24 hours in the country. This is the largest number of deaths in a single day. On the other hand, 3.37 lakh people recovered from Covid-19.

Meanwhile, in light of rising Covid-19 cases, states are opting for lockdown. Bihar has become the ninth state to impose lockdown after Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Goa and Jharkhand. CM Nitish Kumar had a meeting on Tuesday with ministers and officials. Today the government announced the decision to impose a total lockdown by 15 May.

In the worst affected state Maharashtra’s Nagpur, 5 new coronavirus strains have been found. According to the report, these strains were found in 35 samples. Samples of suspected patients from Nagpur’s Indira Gandhi Medical College and Nagpur Medical College were sent to Pune and Delhi for examination. 35 out of 74 samples found 5 mutations. Dr Ravindra Khadse, Assistant Professor in the Department of Micro Biology of Indira Gandhi Medical College, has stated that there are double mutations found in 26 samples.

Union Joint Secretary of Health Luv Agarwal has said that there is another positive trend in the country, as the recovery rate is increasing continuously. It was 78% on 2 May. It has increased to 82% on 3 May. “We are planning to use the oxygen of the industry for medical purpose. We are also talking to the state about this. Now 1050 PSA Oxygen Plant is in operation in the country. Covid centers will be built near the oxygen plant,” he said.
