“Coronavirus Living Organism, Has Right To Live”: Former Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat

Trivendra Singh Rawat said, “Seen from a philosophical angle, coronavirus is also a living organism. It has the right to live like the rest of us.”

New Delhi| In an absolutely bizarre statement, former Uttarakhand CM Trivendra Singh Rawat said that Coronavirus has the “Right to live”. He was speaking at an interview with a private news channel.

Giving an explanation for why the virus is mutating and creating new variants, Rawat said, “Seen from a philosophical angle, coronavirus is also a living organism. It has the right to live like the rest of us. But we (humans) think ourselves to be the most intelligent and are out to eliminate it. So it is constantly mutating itself.”

However, he did further note that the man needs to outpace the virus to stay safe.

At a time when the country is struggling with the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, Rawat’s comments did not go down well with people. While many called his statement insensitive, others pointed out the suffering of people infected due to Covid-19.
