Coronavirus Update: Kerala Police Used Call Detail Records of Covid Patients For Contact Tracing

The Kerala CM also assured that the details would not be used for any other purpose and there would be no intrusion of privacy of patients.

Coronavirus infected patients continue to rise rapidly across the country, with India reporting its biggest single-day spike in new Covid-19 cases.

67,000 cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in a matter of 24 hours, taking the total tally to 23.9 lakh in the world’s third-worst infected country, according to the Health Ministry’s data this morning. Over 16.9 lakh patients have recovered while over 47,000 deaths have been recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.

Wednesday was a sixth consecutive day that India reported over 60,000 cases of coronavirus.

Ram Temple Trust Head Tests Covid +ve, Shared Stage With PM In Ayodhya

On August 5, Nritya Gopal Das had attended Ram Temple Bhoomi Pujan ceremony. This event in Ayodhya was attended by 175 people including seers from across the country, PM Modi, RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat and UP CM Yogi Adityanath. He was also seen sitting on the stage along with other dignitaries. PM modi and Yogi Adityanath also greeted him on the stage.

Nritya Gopal Das had reached Mathura on Wednesday to celebrate Janmashtami. On Thursday morning, his health condition suddenly deteriorated. The Chief Medical Officer of the nearby hospital along with the health team reached the spot and conducted a test after which he was found to be positive.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath enquired about Nritya Gopal Das’ health over a phone call. Yogi has spoken to Dr Naresh Trehan and asked him to admit Das to Medanta Hospital.

Pranab Mukherjee’s Condition Unchanged; “He’s A Fighter,” Tweets Son

Hours after rubbishing rumours of death, Pranab Mukherjee’s son said he is “slowly responding to medical interventions” and was “always a fighter”. The former President of the country, who earlier tested positive for coronavirus, has been on ventilator support since a brain surgery on Monday. The army hospital said that is “deeply comatose” with stable parameters and his condition remained unchanged.

“My father is and has always been a fighter! He is slowly responding to medical interventions and all his vital parameters are stable . I urge upon every well-wisher to pray for my father’s speedy recovery ! We need them,” Abhijit Mukherjee tweeted.

Cops Using Call Records Of COVID Patients For Contact Tracing: Kerala CM

Phone call detail records (CDRs) of Covid-19 patients were being used by the police in Kerala as part of adopting innovative and scientific methods for effective contact tracing, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan informed on Wednesday.

The Kerala CM also assured that the details would not be used for any other purpose and there would be no intrusion of privacy of any patient.

“…the state Police chief had given instruction to collect the call detail records (CDRs) of COVID-19 patients. The law enforcement agencies are allowed to collect this type of information… CDRs are used to collect patient information for the sake of public health and safety,” Mr. Vijayan said.
