Coronavirus Vaccination: India Administers 1 Crore Vaccines Doses On Friday In A Record Feat

On an average, about 27.67 lakh people are vaccinated every day. Of these, about 48 crore have got the first dose vaccination and 14 crore second dose.

India on Friday has set a new record of coronavirus vaccination. According to the government, more than one crore people have been vaccinated in India on August 27. This is the highest number of vaccination in a day since India rolled out vaccination drive on January 16th. At the same time, vaccination coverage in the country has crossed 62 crore. According to the Health Ministry, UP topped the list with 28.62 lakh vaccinations. This was followed by 10.79 lakh doses in Karnataka and 9.84 lakh doses in Maharashtra.

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya also shared the information on social media. According to the Cowin portal, 92 million doses were administered on August 16th. Meanwhile, on August 25, 84 lakh people were vaccinated. However, on August 26, 79.48 lakh vaccines were administered in the country in 24 hours. This figure had crossed 61.22 crore.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi too took it to Twitter to congratulate the country. He wrote, “A record vaccination has taken place today. Crossing the number of one crore is an important achievement. Congratulations to those who have been vaccinated and to those who have made this campaign a success.”

The chief of the technical advisory group NTAGI formed on vaccination, Dr. NK Arora said, “With 63,000 vaccination centers, we are able to deliver more than 10 million doses of the corona vaccine.” We can vaccinate Switzerland and Scandinavian countries (coming from Northern Europe) in one day.

He congratulated all the frontline workers, vaccinators, nurses, doctors and healthcare providers across the country, including the private sector, for achieving this feat. “This is a matter of pride for the health system of the country. I am confident that in the days and weeks to come, we will achieve even greater heights,” Dr. Arora said.

It has been 224 days since the vaccination started on January 16. During this period, more than 62 crore doses were taken. That is, India has vaccinated one and a half times the total population of America. On an average, about 27.67 lakh people are vaccinated every day. Of these, about 48 crore have got the first dose and 14 crore have got both the doses.
