Himachal Pradesh Polls Live Updates: 65.55% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 5 PM

Dharamshala: Himachal Pradesh is all set to witness assembly polls today. There are total 68 seats for which Himachal will be voting. The term of the 13th Assembly will expire on January 8, 2023. The Election Commission of India said that voting would be held in one phase only. The results will be out on December 8.

18:00 (IST) Nov 12: EVMs, and VVPATs being sealed before being taken from a booth.

17:40 (IST) Nov 12: 65.55% voter turnout was recorded till 5 PM.

17:07 (IST) Nov 12: Districtwise, the highest polling of 62.75% was recorded in the Lahaul and Spiti districts, followed by 60.38% in Sirmour and 58.9% in Mandi.

16:52 (IST) Nov 12: Highest polling recorded in Seraj – 70%, least in Bhoranj – 45%

15:40 (IST) Nov 12: 55.65% voter turnout has been recorded till 3 PM.

14:09 (IST) Nov 12: CEC said, “I salute 1.2 lakh voters in the state who are above 80 yrs of age. Drawing inspiration from them, youth gets the opportunity to go ahead. We pay tribute to the late Shyam Saran Negi, it will be a fitting tribute to him to cast votes in large numbers.”

12:48 (IST) Nov 12: Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) of India Rajiv Kumar said that there are 157 polling stations across Himachal Pradesh that are being managed solely by women staff. In the Hamirpur district, a crèche facility has also been made available so that those who come with children don’t have to face any issues.

13:43 (IST) Nov 12: JP Nadda said the Himachal people want to give BJP another chance.

“There are 56,000 PwD (Persons with Disabilities) voters in Himachal. We have made a lot of arrangements for them. 37 polling stations are being managed solely by PwD staff. This is a tool of their employment which we wanted to display,” he added.

11:59 (IST) Nov 12: BJP chief JP Nadda, and his wife cast votes in Bilaspur.

11:55 (IST) Nov 12: Chief Electoral Officer of Himachal shares video and photos of difficulties faced by them to set up polling booths yet they were ready in time. He tweeted, “Beating all odds, polling personnel made it possible to set up polling booths well in time across the state. Where Duty before self is our motto, No Voter to be left behind is our target ! Now it is your duty to cast your vote.”

11:51 (IST) Nov 12: 17.98% voter turnout has been recorded till 11 AM.

11:33 (IST) Nov 12: Taking to Twitter AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal appealed to people to vote for a better future. He tweeted, “Do go and vote for a better future for your kids and Himachal.”

11:15 (IST) Nov 12: After casting the vote Pratibha Singh said, “Confident of winning 40-45 seats in Himachal Pradesh.”

10:55 (IST) Nov 12: Himachal Pradesh Congress chief Pratibha Singh and her son & party MLA Vikramaditya Singh cast their votes. “We would like to request people to take Himachal forward and cast their votes in the public interest, in the interest of Himachal Pradesh – to make it the best state in the country,” said Congress MLA from Himachal.

10:25 (IST) Nov 12: Amit Shah too appealed to voters to vote in maximum numbers. He tweeted, “I appeal to all the voters of Himachal, especially mothers, sisters, and youth, to vote in maximum numbers and elect a strong government.”

10:15 (IST) Nov 12: Taking to Twitter, PM Modi urged people to create a new voting record this year.

10:05 (IST) Nov 12: Kangra records 4.54% polling by 9 am. Only 4% voting recorded in first hour of polling, said EC sources.

10:00 (IST) Nov 12: Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi appealed to people to vote for OPS and employment. He tweeted, “Himachal will vote for OPS,  Himachal will vote for employment,  Himachal will vote for ‘Har Ghar Laxmi’.  Come, vote in large numbers, and make your valuable contribution to the progress and prosperous future of Himachal.”
