India has reported over 3,000 COVID-19 cases in last 24 hrs amid national lockdown alarming the governments across the country.
New Delhi| The total cases in India surged to 56,342 including over 16,000 cured/discharged or migrated and 1,886 deaths amid lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19.
In the past 24 hours, 100 casualties were recorded.
A staggering 3,000 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases in Maharashtra– the worst affected state by the virus, has climbed to 17,974 with 698 deaths.
Mumbai, the financial capital of the country, figures also nears 10,000-mark.
Follows Gujarat with 7,012 cases of highly infectious coronavirus, second highest in the country.
Tamil Nadu witnessed the sharpest hike in fresh cases this week. As many as 580 novel coronavirus cases were recorded in the past 24 hrs. Total cases in the state are 5,409.
Across the country, at least 16,000 patients have cured so far the recovery rate stood at 28.83%.
A total of 280 government laboratories in the country is conducting tests for the novel coronavirus, the Indian Council of Medical Research has said. ICMR also issued a list of 90 private labs which will conduct the testing.

Globally, the total number of COVID-19 cases topped 3,800,000 while the death toll crossed 269,000, as per the latest data from Johns Hopkins University.
