Crackdown On Banned Jamat-E-Islami, NIA Raids Multiple Locations Across J&K

This separatist organization was banned by the central government in the year 2019 due to its pro-Pakistan and pro-separatist stance.

 

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided 45 locations in 14 districts of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. The raid involved NIA as well as Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF personnel. During this, the residences of the members of the banned organization called Jamaat-e-Islami were raided. This separatist organization was banned by the central government in the year 2019 due to its pro-Pakistan and pro-separatist stance.

The raid was carried out by the NIA after Jamaat-e-Islami’s activities in the valley increased despite the ban. According to India Today, a senior DIG and team had reached Srinagar from Delhi before the raid.

 

Raids in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipora, Anantnag, Shopian, Pulwama, Kulgam, Ramban, Doda, Kishtwar and Rajouri districts.

 

Earlier on July 31, the NIA had also raided 14 locations in Jammu and Kashmir in connection with ID recovery and a case involving top Lashkar-e-Mustafa commander Hidayatullah Malik.
