Criminal Cases Demanded By Akali Dal Against Sidhu And His Team Over ‘Anti-National’ Statements

The Akali Dal has demanded registration of criminal cases against Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and his team for praising the Taliban and making anti-national statements.

Akali Dal demands registration of criminal cases against Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Singh Sidhu and his team for praising the Taliban and making anti-national statements. The party also threatens to gherao Sonia Gandhi if Sidhu’s advisors are not removed.

On Tuesday, the Opposition, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), demanded registration of criminal cases against Punjab Congress Chief Navjot Sidhu and his team for praising Taliban and making anti-national statements. “One day before Independence Day, they (Malwinder Singh Mali) said that Kashmir was annexed by us. They claim that it was a forceful takeover. They also showed disrespect to the tricolour and Indian Map… I demand immediate registration of a case against the PCC chief and his entire team. They cannot play with the emotions of the people in this manner,” said Bikram Majithia, senior Akali Dal leader.

While speaking to the media, the senior Akali Dal leader said Sidhu and his office were behaving like the sub office of ISI. “This is not the PCC office but the sub office of ISI. Punjab Congress President and his office is behaving like Pakistan’s ISI office. How can I be a mute spectator to this?” said Bikram Majithia.

Majithia said he had raised this issue on 15th of August itself as the statements being made by Sidhu’s advisors were not only anti-national but were also hurting the countrymen. “They are talking about Afghanistan and congratulating the Taliban. They are saying that this is the best thing that has happened.. that is what Imran Khan and General Bajwa all said,” Majithia said.

The Akali Dal has said that Sidhu and his aides were misusing the Congress office by abusing their opponents that, too, on the auspicious day of August 15. He said the party will also seek legal options to take action against Sidhu and his team.

Majithia also said that inaction on part of congress high command clearly shows that Sidhu’s advisors were getting directions from their bosses. “We will consult our advocates and also bring the matter to the notice of the Congress high command, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi asking them to clear their stand on the statements made by Navjot Sidhu’s advisors. We will expose the Congress,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sidhu’s advisors Malwinder Singh Mali and Dr Pyare Lal Garg who on Tuesday went to Patiala to meet Sidhu appeared unapologetic and said the statements were made in personal capacity. “My statements are not anti-national. The dialogue should continue” Malwinder Singh Mali told the media in Patiala.

Dr Pyare Lal Garg said that the statements were given in a personal capacity and had nothing to do with the Congress party. Both have refused to withdraw their statements. Also, under pressure from the opposition and within Congress, Navjot Sidhu continues to maintain a silence over the controversy. He has neither distanced himself nor removed his advisors.
