A Day After Coup, Chirag Paswan Removed As Lok Janshakti Party Chief

Rebels, who are now calling the shots in the party, have chosen Suraj Bhan as the new working president and election officer of the LJP.

Isolated by the coup in his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) led by his uncle, Chirag Paswan was today removed as party president.

Rebel MPs said that Chirag Paswan has been removed on the principle of “One Man, One Post”. Mr Paswan was leader of the LJP parliamentary party and Parliamentary Board chairman besides national president.

Rebels, who are now calling the shots in the party, have chosen Suraj Bhan as the new working president and election officer of the LJP. Mr Bhan has been asked to conduct an election for new president within five days by calling the party’s national executive.

Pashupati Paras, Chirag’s uncle and leader of the rebel MPs, is likely to be elected new national president later this week.

Five of the six MPs from the LJP under the leadership of Chirag’s uncle Pashupati Paras will next move to remove Mr Paswan as the leader of the LJP parliamentary party and board.
