New Delhi| The National capital today woke up to light showers in several areas. However, contrary to expectations, the rain did not bring any respite to Delhi. The drizzles of rain have not helped to improve the city’s Air Quality which continues to remain in the “Severe” category.
In many areas of Delhi, the Air Quality Index (AQI) reached close to 500 levels. AQI 492 was recorded in Bawana, 487 in ITO and 482 in Ashok Vihar. This is considered a serious situation.

According to the Meteorological Department, “The next 24 hours will be cloudy. There may be light rain at times. Winds are likely to move at speeds of 15 to 20 km per hour. ”
Air Quality Index Standards
The Air Quality Index (AQI) is considered ‘Better’ between 0-50, ‘Satisfactory’ between 51-100, ‘Normal’ between 101 to 200, ‘Poor’ between 201 to 300, Between 301 to 400 ‘very poor’ and between 401 and 500 it is considered ‘Severe’. At the same time, the level of PM10 in the air should not be higher than 100 and PM 2.5 micrograms per meter.
Health Emergency in Delhi
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday ordered all schools in Delhi to be closed till November 5, in view of the increased pollution in the city due to crop burning in neighbouring states. The Supreme Court panel declared a public health emergency in Delhi-NCR when the pollution level on Friday. All construction works have been banned till November 5. During the winter season, the firecrackers will be completely prevented from burning.
The odd-evening scheme will be effective from November 4 to 15
