Delhi HC issues notice to Centre, AIIMS on a petition filed by an acid attack victim over the Right to Employment

Delhi High Court issues notice to Centre and AIIMS on a petition filed by an acid attack victim over the right to employment. As per the notification of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, acid attack victims should be given reservation under Persons With Disability (PWD) quota.

The Delhi High Court asked the Central government and AIIMS why an acid attack victim (petitioner) has been denied reservation under PWD quota for seeking a job in the medical institution.

A single-judge bench of Justice PS Teji meanwhile permitted the petitioner to apply under General Category.

September 13 has been fixed as the final date of hearing.

The petitioner Yasmeen Mansuree has challenged the AIIMS notification in which it had barred acid attack victims to apply under the PWD quota for the post of staff nurse.

In the plea, Mansuree has referred to an amendment in the disability act (2016) in which acid attack victims have been put under the Disability benchmark.
