Police detains spiritual leader on hunger strike demanding Ram Temple construction

Ayodhya | The Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday detained Swami Paramhans Das, Mahant of the Ayodhya Tapaswi Chawni, who was on an indefinite hunger strike demanding the construction of Ram Temple in Ayodhya.


Das who was on hunger strike since 7 days was detained and shifted to the Lucknow hospital after Uttar Pradesh cabinet minister Satish Mahana held a meeting with the Mahant. Addressing the media after the meet, Minister Mahana said, “I humbly requested Mahant Paramhans to break his fast. I have come here as an emissary of the chief minister. If he wishes to meet the chief minister I will discuss it with him and will try to facilitate it tomorrow if required.”

While Mahant Paramhans Das informing about the meeting said, “Minister Satish Mahana requested me to break the hunger strike. He told me that he will arrange a video-conferencing with UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. I want to request Prime Minister Modi to facilitate construction of Ram Temple through the same route which was taken for construction of Somnath temple.”
After the Supreme Court announced that the hearing of the title suit in the Ayodhya Babri Masjid-Ram Janmabhoomi dispute will begin from October 29, the demand for the construction of Ram Temple has begun. Earlier a delegation of saints associated to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad met President Ram Nath Kovind while Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has also announced that he will be visiting Ayodhya after Dusshera.
