In a video doing rounds on social media, some officials in protective gear are seen spraying disinfectants on migrants sitting on a road.

Bareilly| After the country was sent under lockdown amid growing concerns around coronavirus spread, thousands of migrants working in an unorganized sector started walking back towards their hometown. A shocking video from Bareilly of UP has surfaced, in which group of migrants returning to the UP was spread by disinfectants.

In a video doing rounds on social media, some officials in protective gear are seen spraying disinfectants on migrants sitting on a road. Women and children were also a part of this group. This group had returned to their hometown after buses were arranged for them.

A man can be heard in the video instructing the group to close their as well as their kids’ eyes.

Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi took on Twitter to condemn the action by UP administration. She said, “I appeal to the government in UP… all of us are fighting together against this crisis (coronavirus). Please don’t indulge in such inhuman actions. The laborers have already suffered a lot. Don’t spray chemicals on them. This won’t protect them… rather it would harm their health.”

An official said responding on the said incident, “We did not mean to be inhuman… It was important to sanitize everyone and there was a rush. So we did what we thought was best.”
