“Don’t Gather At Mosques, Wear Masks,” Muslim Religious Leaders Ask People On Eid

The UP government issued these guidelines following crowds gathered at many places for Eid shopping

 

Eid festival is being celebrated all over the country. In light of the Coronavirus pandemic, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPBL), Darul Uloom Deoband and many mosque committees of the country have advised people to follow the Corona Guidelines. Deoband has issued a fatwa and said that in view of the present situation, it is better to offer chasat namaz i.e. home prayers.

The police in different parts of the country have maintained strict vigil. The entire area of ​​Delhi’s Jama Masjid has been barricaded. There is a heavy deployment of police forces. Few people have offered namaz inside the mosque. All other people have been appealed to stay in their homes to offer Namaz.

AIMPBL also said that there is no need to gather large crowd on the occasion of Eid. It has also appealed to keep social distancing between two namazis and wear a mask.

 

Restrictions In Following States

Maharashtra:

The government itself has issued guidelines asking people to celebrate the festival of Eid very carefully. In its order issues yesterday, it has appealed the people to not gather in mosques or public places to offer prayers. Processions and religious programs are also not allowed. Shops for buying goods will also open till the scheduled time and the crowds will not be allowed to gather in the markets. Hand carts will not be installed on the roadside.

 

Rajasthan:

Collectors and SPs in all districts of the state have appealed to the Muslim community to take precautions on Eid. Authorities have told the Muslim community that it is most important to break the chain of infection and hence celebrate the festival at home. The Chief Qazi of Jaipur and the city Mufti also said that the Corona Guidelines should be followed and Eid should be celebrated at home.

 

Madhya Pradesh:

Along with the government, the administration has also appealed to offer Namaz at home. In Bhopal, Eid prayers were performed here at 6:15 am on Friday and that too following the Corona Guidelines. The city Qazi has appealed to follow social distancing, exchanging greetings on social media and messages instead of meeting in person.

Uttar Pradesh:

The Uttar Pradesh government has said in the guidelines that namaz will not be offered in mosques. Only 5 people, including the Imam, will be present in select Idgahs and mosques. There will also be no programs in public places. Shaking hands and hugs are not allowed during Eid. Corona guidelines should be fully followed. The UP government issued these guidelines following crowds gathered at many places for Eid shopping.

Bihar:

The government and administration have appealed to Muslims to stay at home and offer Namaz and celebrate Eid. Muslim religious leaders of the state have also said that the guidelines of the lockdown should be followed. Eid prayers will not be performed at the historic Gand hi Maidan in Patna.
