Chandigarh: Captain Amarinder Singh called Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi ‘inexperienced’ and questioned the way the party was being run from Delhi on Thursday.
Congress reacting to the comment said that there is no place for anger in politics and that it was natural for elders to get angry.
The Congress’s suggestion seemed to have annoyed Singh more, as he hit back, asking whether there is space for humiliation and insult in a “grand old party” such as the Congress.
Congress spokesperson Supriya Shrinate while responding question on Singh’s outburst, told reporters at an AICC briefing that “He is our elder and the elderly often get angry and say a lot of things. We respect his anger, age and experience. We hope he does reconsider his words. But, there is no space in politics for anger, envy, enmity, vendetta and personal attacks and comments against political opponents,” she said.
“We hope that he will rethink on his own words while showing prudence, as he has remained a stalwart of the Congress party, which made him the chief minister for nine years and nine months,” she added.
Yesterday, Amarinder Singh was asked by BJP to join hands. These developments comes after the resignation of Former Punjab CM Amarinder Singh. He resigned last week after the Punjab Congress MLAs wrote to Sonia Gandhi to replace Captain. He had said that he was still a part of Congress and that he may take a decision in future.
He had handed over his resignation to the governor. After handing over he had said that if Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the CM he would revolt. Soon after that a legislator meet was held. Sunil Jakhar was predicted to be the new CM before the legislators meet but the next day Charanjit Singh Channi was elected as the new CM.
