Breaking: Encounter begins in Chhattisgarh after seven explosions by Maoists

An encounter is underway in poll-bound Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur after seven explosions carried out by the Maoists. One Maoist dead and one has been detained.

 

Raipur| An encounter between security personnel and Maoists has broken out in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur after seven explosions carried out by the Maoists. The development comes a day before the state will be appearing for the Assembly Election.

According to the reports, one Maoist died in the encounter while another one has been apprehended. The security forces have recovered arms and ammunition from them. One BSF soldier has also been injured in an IED blast in Kanker’s Koyali beda region.

On November 12, the first phase of voting will be conducted in Chhattisgarh‘s Bastar and surrounding areas. These areas have long been affected by Naxal insurgency. Two days ago, Maoists had carried out an explosion in the bus carrying a CISF soldier. At least five people including civilians were killed and two were injured in the blast. Before that, a DD cameraman and police personnel had died in a Maoists ambush in Chhattisgarh’s Dantewada.
