“Farmers have been allegedly killed still no statement from PM Modi’s end,” says Sanjay Raut

Lakhimpur : National Spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP of Shiv Sena aims at PM Narendra Modi regarding Lakhimpur violence. He said that this is not about politics but the government should answer that why were the farmers killed? If PM Modi has a soft corner for farmers he should speak with them.

Sanjay Raut said, “Farmers were attacked in Haryana. After that farmers were killed in Lakhimpur Kheri. If you (PM Modi) love farmers, then talk.” He said, “The whole world is hurt by what happened in Lakhimpur Kheri.”

He states that what has happened with Priyanka Gandhi is not appropriate. Farmers have been killed but no statement from Modi. He said, “The treatment done to Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is wrong. You can have a fight with Congress, but you can’t do that at all. Farmers have been killed, but till now no statement has been given from the PM’s side.

According to sources, after the incident of Lakhimpur Kheri, Priyanka Gandhi, who was going to Lakhimpur, has been detained by the UP Police in Sitapur for more than 30 hours. Priyanka Gandhi has tweeted today and questions Modi, “Narendra Modi ji, your government has kept me in custody without any order and FIR. The person who crushed the food donor has not been arrested yet. Why?”

Raut said Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other leaders were stopped by the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, from going to Lakhimpur Kheri to show solidarity with the farmers protesting over their demand for a repeal of the Centre’s three agri-marketing laws.

“Does the BJP have a new strategy of crushing farmers and stifling the voices of opposition leaders who show solidarity with them?” Raut asked.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi speaks about farmers’ interests, while state governments headed by the BJP “kills farmers” with cars being run over them, Sena’s chief spokesperson claimed.

Raut likened the Lakhimpur Kheri incident to the case of revolutionary Babu Genu, who was run over by a Britisher’s truck while protesting in Mumbai during the independence struggle.

Talking to reporters, Raut said when a rape incident took place at Saki Naka in Mumbai last month, the BJP raised a hue and cry, and “we (state government) did not stop anyone from going to the crime site”.

“Farmers have been run over allegedly by the car of a minister’s son (in Lakhimpur Kheri). Where does such cruelty come from?” asked the Rajya Sabha member, whose party shares power with the NCP and Congress in Maharashtra.
