Farmers’ Leaders Meet Ministers For 9th Round of Talks, Centre Likely To Propose A Midway

According to sources, the Union Minister told Baba Lakkha Singh that the government is now preparing a proposal, in which the state governments will be allowed to implement or not to implement the agricultural law.

The farmers’ movement has been going on for 44 days now. The 9th round of meeting between the farmers and government is going on at Vigyan Bhawan. Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Prakash are present in the talks on behalf of the government. Farmers stand is also clear this time. They are firm that all three agricultural laws should be repealed and separate laws should be made on MSP. Tomar and Goyal met at Amit Shah’s residence before meeting the peasant leaders.

The decision to implement the law can be left on the states

The decision to implement agricultural laws can now be left to the state governments by the Centre. Mukhi Baba Lakkha Singh of Dera Nanaksar met Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday as a mediator. According to sources, the Union Minister told Baba Lakkha Singh that the government is now preparing a proposal, in which the state governments will be allowed to implement or not to implement the agricultural law.

It is discussed that in today’s meeting, the central government can disclose this proposal to the farmers. If the farmers agree on this then the movement is likely to end.

Updates from the meeting:

Minister of State for Agriculture Kailash Chaudhary has said that a solution will come out when every clause of the laws is discussed. “The government is ready for a change in the laws. We hope to get results,” he said.
