Farmers’ Protest: Agitators To Take Out Mock Tractor Rally On Delhi Borders

Rakesh Tikait, spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union at Ghazipur border said that today the tractor rally will go to Dasana, Aligarh Road and then return to Ghazipur.

 

New Delhi| For the last one and a half months, farmers have been adamant against the three agricultural laws and are protesting on Delhi’s borders. At the same time, the government also does not want to step back. In such a situation, the agitation of farmers continues. The farmers’ seven-round talks with the government were inconclusive, so the farmers have intensified their agitation and today tractors will march on the borders of the capital. The farmers, who are protesting at the UP Gate in Ghaziabad, will perform a rehearsal’ of their ‘Tractor March’ for the Republic Day on Thursday morning, at 135 m long Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

It is likely to affect people passing through NH-9 including on two national highways. However, Yogendra Yadav said that these farmers will not enter Delhi today. Meanwhile, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials said tractors are not allowed on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

NHAI officials said that traffic will be affected on both major highways from March. He said that about 50,000 passenger cars pass through the Eastern Peripheral Expressway every day while about 80000 vehicles pass through the UP Gate route.

Heavy security has been deployed at Delhi’s Singhu border where farmers are opposing agricultural laws. Farmers will hold a tractor rally today on the four borders of Delhi, including the eastern and western peripheries.
