An FIR has been registered in Karnataka against interim Congress President Sonia Gandhi over the party’s tweet on PM CARES fund.
Bengaluru| An FIR has been registered against Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi in Karnataka over her party’s tweets on PM-CARES Fund, news agency ANI reported.
It said that the FIR was filed against her in Shivamogga and recognises her as the handler of the social media account.

The FIR has been filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 153 and 505 which relate to wantonly provoking people and inciting them to commit an offence against any other class or community.
FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint received by KV advocate Praveen Kumar. He said that the Congress party has called PM-CARES Fund a fraud. He blamed the Congress party for spreading rumours against the centre amid a crisis.
He sought legal action against Sonia Gandhi and Congress workers involved in handling the Twitter account.
The state Congress condemned the registration of the case.
