First Consignment of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin Reaches Delhi

Bharat Biotech’s first consignment of Covaxin left for Delhi from Air India Flight AI 559 at 6.50 am today.

 

New Delhi| Before the start of the coronavirus vaccination campaign in the country, the work of delivering vaccines across the country is going on. After the Covishield of Serum Institute, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin has also started reaching different parts of the country. Bharat Biotech’s first consignment of Covaxin has arrived in Delhi today. The consignment arrived early this morning via an aircraft from the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad.

Both Covishield, the vaccine manufactured by Serum Institute of India and Covaxin of Bharat Biotech have been approved for emergency use by the Drug Controller General of India. The Serum Institute first began delivery of the vaccine on Tuesday and via flights of four airlines to 13 locations in the country. From January 16, the world’s largest vaccination drive will begin in India.

Bharat Biotech’s first consignment of Covaxin left for Delhi from Air India Flight AI 559 at 6.50 am today. Three boxes of vaccines from Hyderabad arrived at Delhi Airport weighing 80.5 kg. The Central Government has placed order with ‘Serum Institute of India’ (SII) and ‘Bharat Biotech’ for more than six crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine on Monday before the vaccination campaign starting from January 16 in the country. . The total value of this order will be around Rs 1,300 crore.
