For Second Consecutive Day, India Records More Than 2 Lakh Coronavirus Cases

The death rate due to coronavirus in the country is 1.24 per cent, while the recovery rate is around 89 per cent.

 

New Delhi| Coronavirus cases are exploding in the country. The situation in many states seems to go out of control. For the second consecutive day, India recorded more than 2 lakh cases of Coronavirus. According to the Health Ministry, in the last 24 hours, the country logged 2,17,353 new cases of coronavirus. This is the highest figure recorded in a day. India also recorded 1185 deaths during this period. Earlier on Wednesday, 2,00,739 new cases were reported in a day. Following the incessant spike in cases, strict restrictions are being imposed in different states. Weekend curfew has been announced along with the night curfew. Board examinations have been postponed in many states.

Total 1,42,91,917 Cases In the Country

The total number of patients has increased to 1,42,91,917 with 2,17,353 new infections in the country. While a total of 1,74,308 patients have died due to the infection so far. In the last 24 hours, 1,18,302 patients have been discharged from the hospital. A total of 1,25,47,866 patients have recovered so far. There are currently 15,69,743 active cases in the country. A total of 11,72,23,509 people have been vaccinated so far.

Death rate and recovery rate

The death rate of coronavirus in the country is 1.24 per cent, while the recovery rate is around 89 per cent. India ranks third in the world in Active Coronavirus Case. India is second only to the US in terms of the total number of infected. Pune and Mumbai are also included in the list of top infected cities of the world.

Maharashtra Reels Under Worsening Covid-19 Situation

Among all the states, Maharashtra remains the worst-affected. On Thursday, 61695 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in the state. While 53335 patients have recovered and 349 died. So far, 36.39 lakh people have been affected by this epidemic in the state. Of these, 29.59 lakh people have recovered, while 59,153 patients have died. Currently, about 6.20 lakh people are being treated here.
