Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey Ditched By JDU, Given No Ticket To Contest

This is the second time that former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey was ditched by the parties and couldn’t get a ticket.

Patna| Former Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey, who had opted for VRS to contest the election was ditched by the JDU in the list of candidates announced. The former police officer who was hoping to get a ticket from Buxar was overlooked by the party. Pandey was hopeful that he could even be made candidate for the Lok Sabha by-election in Valmiki but here Nitish Kumar’s JDU has announced Sunil Kumar, the son of late MP Baidyanath Mahato, as a candidate. In the 50:50 seat sharing formula between BJP and JDU, the Buxar seat went to BJP. The saffron party announced to give ticket to Parashuram Chaturvedi from this seat on Wednesday evening.

This is the second time that Gupteshwar Pandey lost the chance to contest elections. Earlier in 2009 Lok Sabha election, Pandey had taken VRS to contest Buxar Lok Sabha seat on BJP ticket but did not get the ticket. A few months later, he withdrew his VRS and returned to the job.

Gupteshwar Pandey was made the Director General of Bihar Police by the Nitish government last year. Gupteshwar Pandey was the face of the activism of Bihar Police in Sushant Rajput case.
