Four Militants Killed By Security Forces In Shopian Encounter

Of the 4 militants killed, 2 have been identified. Both belonged to the terror organization Hizbul Mujahideen. These ‘A’ category militants were active since 2018.

 

Shrinagar| On Monday, four militants were killed in an encounter by security forces in Pinjora area in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. The bodies and weapons of the four have been recovered. A search operation was launched by security forces upon receiving the information about the hideout of the militants. The militants had started firing, in response, the security forces also had to fire.

The 2 terrorists killed belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen

Of the 4 militants killed, 2 have been identified. Both belonged to the terror organization Hizbul Mujahideen. These ‘A’ category militants were active since 2018. Of these, Omar was a resident of Dhobi Pinjora. He was involved in the incident of firing on police personnel in Batgund Kapren in which 3 soldiers were killed. There were 10 FIRs against him. He was active in stone-pelting incidents on security forces. He was also involved in the kidnapping and murder of a truck driver from Rajasthan.

The other militant killed was Raees Khan. He was a resident of Shopian. There were 5 FIRs against Raees. He was involved in firing incidents at Army camp and patrolling party in Shopian and killing 3 people. Raees was also involved in the terror attack in which Special Police Officer Khushboo Jan was killed.

Second encounter in 24 hours, 9 terrorists killed

On Sunday, security forces killed 5 militants in Reban village of Shopian. The Hizbul commander of Pulwama and Kulgam, Farooq Ahmed Bhat alias Nali, was also killed in the encounter. He was included in the list of A ++ terrorists.
