Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz set to face legal heat after ‘seditious comments’ against army

A criminal complaint has been filed against senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Saifuddin Soz in Delhi’s Patiala House Court on Friday for making ‘seditious statements against the Indian Army’.

The complaint has been filed against the leaders by an advocate for “inciting disaffection in the minds of people against Indian Army and Government of India”.

On Friday, the BJP attacked Congress after terror organisation LeT backed his remarks on Kashmir. Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said at a presser. He said: “Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that the army is killing more general people than militants in Kashmir. His remarks are very embarrassing, unfortunate, and irresponsible.”

Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad had said earlier that the army operations in Jammu and Kashmir have killed more civilians than terrorists. Azad had told a media outlet “They take action against four terrorists and kill 20 civilians along. Their action is more against civilians than terrorists. For instance, they killed 13 civilians in Pulwama and just one terrorist. Saying that it will be an all-out operation, clearly shows that they plan to do a massacre. They did not say that they want to resolve the issue through talks. Even America and North Korea solved their difference through dialogue.”

While Saifuddin Soz had recently backed anti-India statement made by former Pakistan President Pervez Mushraff where he claimed that if given a choice Jammu and Kashmir would prefer to remain independent and not join India.
