Ghunghat to Modern Wear: Mumbai local’s women’s coaches get modernised

Mumbai | Western Railways to keep up with the changing times, Western Railways has updated the logo of Women’s coach of the local trains. The symbol which earlier had a woman with saree pallu over her head is now replaced with women in a formal suit.

Along with the change in logo, The Western Railways will also display posters of inspiring women like Saina Nehwal, Kalpana Chawla and Mithal Raj along with their achievement in the women’s coach.

As reported in Mumbai Mirror, Chief PRO of WR, Ravinder Bhakar said, “The idea was to adopt an icon that will do justice and represent today’s women in this city, who are independent and successful. Officials further added that the logo will be painted in a larger size to avoid passengers to get confused with general compartment.

Till now two 12 rake coaches have been remodeled while other two will be completed within a few weeks. In total, all 112 rakes of the Western Railways will be remodeled with a new logo within a period of time.
