Panaji | Goa Chief Minister and BJP leader Manohar Parrikar today died at the age of 63 after suffering pancreatic ailment.
Expressing condolence on his demise, President Ram Nath Kovind wrote, “Extremely sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Manohar Parrikar, Chief Minister of Goa, after an illness borne with fortitude and dignity. An epitome of integrity and dedication in public life, his service to the people of Goa and of India will not be forgotten.”

The condolence meet for Manohar Parrikar will be held in the Union Cabinet at 11 am tomorrow. Earlier the Chief Minister’s office had tweeted that Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s health condition is extremely critical and the doctors are trying their best.

To control the law and order situation the Goa police units have been deployed at his residence and had taken charge at the gates.
Manohar Parrikar in February 2018 was diagnosed with a pancreatic ailment and has undergone treatment in the US as well as at AIIMS Delhi, besides hospitals in Mumbai and Goa. He later returned to work in December 2018 and even presented the state budget in the Goa assembly.
Parrikar a metallurgical engineer from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT Bombay) was a three-time Chief Minister of Goa from 2000 to 2005, 2012 to 2014 and 2017 to 2019. He was also a former member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh. Manohar Parrikar also held the post of Defence Minister from 2014 to 2017.
