Gujarat: Ahmedabad COVID-19 Hospital Catches Fire, 8 Patients Dead

According to the police, “The fire at Shrey Hospital started at 3:30 am from the ICU. After this, it spread to the second ward.”

 

Ahmedabad | 8 patients died in a fire at Covid Hospital in Navarangpura area of ​​Ahmedabad. These include 5 men and 3 women.

Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Gupta said that the authorities has sealed the hospital. 41 patients have been shifted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel (SVP) Hospital. Bodies have been sent for postmortem. According to the police, “The fire at Shrey Hospital started at 3:30 am from the ICU. After this, it spread to the second ward.”

It is being said that the fire was caused by a short circuit. However, this has not been confirmed yet. It has 50 beds for Covid patients. 40 to 45 patients were admitted at the time of the accident. The rescue operations are still underway.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Gujarat CM Vinay Rupani. He informed about this on Twitter.

PM Modi has announced a grant of Rs 2 lakh to the families of those killed from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF). Apart from this, 50000 rupees help will be given to the people injured in this accident. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Rupani has ordered an inquiry into the incident. The investigation will be led by Additional Chief Secretary (Home Department), Sangeeta Singh. The Chief Minister has asked to submit a report in three days.

According to eyewitnesses, police and fire brigade staff shifted patients to another ward. They say that the number of deaths can increase. On the other hand, the family of the patients say that the hospital management gave the information of the fire to the police and fire brigade late.
