“Statesman Like Conduct”: Harivansh Singh “Chai Pe Charcha” Outreach Gets Praise From PM Modi

Praising Harivansh Singh, PM Modi said that the MP from Bihar is humble and has a big heart.

 

New Delhi| Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Singh today surprised the opposition MPs with his outreach gesture. The MP against whom the opposition MPs had proposed No-confidence motion reached the parliament building early morning and met the protesting MPs. The suspended Rajya Sabha MPs have been protesting outside the parliament overnight. Harivansh Singh served them tea and spoke to them in order to broker peace. However, his efforts had no positive outcome.

On the other hand, his gesture earned a praise from PM Modi. Prime Minister Modi who himself many a times calls himself “Chaiwala” (tea-seller), termed the gesture inspiring. He said the statesman like conduct will make every democracy proud. Praising Harivansh Singh, he said that the MP from Bihar is humble and has a big heart.

“For centuries, the great land of Bihar has been teaching us the values of democracy. In line with that wonderful ethos, MP from Bihar and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Shri Harivansh Ji’s inspiring and statesman like conduct this morning will make every democracy lover proud,” PM Modi said in a tweet.

“To personally serve tea to those who attacked and insulted him a few days ago as well as those sitting on Dharna shows that Shri Harivansh Ji has been blessed with a humble mind and a big heart. It shows his greatness. I join the people of India in congratulating Harivansh Ji, ” he added.
