Haryana Farmers’ Body Supports Farm Laws, Says Protesting Farmers “Misguided”

However, some users pointed out that Mr Chauhan, who represented the delegation, was an active member of the ruling BJP and is connected to its parent organisation RSS.

New Delhi| A delegation of 20 farmers mainly from Haryana met Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today to lend support to the farm laws, news agency ANI reported on Monday.

Kanwal Singh Chauhan, the President of Progressive Farmers Club, Sonipat, after meeting Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, said: “Farmers who are protesting are misguided. PM has assured that MSP and mandi system will remain.”

However, some users pointed out that Mr Chauhan, who represented the delegation, was an active member of the ruling BJP and is connected to its parent organisation RSS.

“We appeal ANI that, as a reputed news agency, it should also tell that this progressive farmer is a loyalist of BJP and Sangh. A simple Google search would have helped.”

Delhi has been surrounded by farmers protesting against agricultural laws for 13 days. Today, the farmers have called for a complete shutdown. The call for nationwide Bharat Bandh has garnered support from various quarters. Earlier in the morning, a train was stopped by the people of Swabhimani Shetkari organization in Malkapur in Buldhana district of Maharashtra. However, the police took them off the track and took them into custody shortly.

Farmers said that the bandh will be called from morning to evening. However, Chakka jam will be held from 11 am to 3 pm. The decision has been taken to limit the Chakka Jam so that office-goers will not face any problem. However, essential services like ambulances and trains engaged in weddings will not be stopped. On the other hand, the Union Home Ministry has directed the states to maintain law and order.
