Here’s Why Rahul Gandhi Walked Out of Defense Parliamentary Panel Meet

Rahul Gandhi said that instead of discussing uniforms, the leaders should discuss issues of national security and strengthening the armed forces deployed in Ladakh.

New Delhi| Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and some other members of the party walked out of the parliamentary committee meeting on defense on Wednesday alleging that time was being spent discussing the uniforms of the armed forces rather than the important issue of national security.

Sources say that Rahul Gandhi wanted to raise issues related to China’s aggression in Ladakh and providing better equipment to soldiers before the committee, but the chairman of the committee, Juel Oram (BJP), did not allow him to do so.

According to a leader present in the meeting, the issue of uniforms for Army, Navy and Air Force personnel was being discussed in the committee meeting in the presence of CDS General Bipin Rawat. Rahul Gandhi said that instead of discussing it, the leaders should discuss issues of national security and strengthening the armed forces deployed in Ladakh. The chairman of the committee did not allow the former Congress president to speak, after which Rahul Gandhi decided to walk out of the meeting.

After this, Congress MPs Rajiv Satav and Revanth Reddy, who attended the committee meeting, also went out with him. Sources said that Rahul Gandhi said that the people associated with the army will take a decision in terms of uniforms and the leaders should discuss national security issues instead.
