Holy Family Hospital, Bandra & Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri awarded Harmony Foundation’s Mother Teresa Certificate of Honour

The Harmony Foundation said it was pleased to acknowledge the work of two particular renowned hospitals in Mumbai during the COVID 19 pandemic.

The medical profession is inextricably linked with the love for humanity. Sadly in this fast paced materialistic world, health care has become more of a lucrative venture rather than a service of mercy and care. During the outbreak of the pandemic, many of the healthcare facilities saw the Covid 19 disaster as an opportunity for profit making rather than restore healing to suffering humanity. To heighten the agony and anguish of the crisis were the many cases reported in the press of demonstrations and protests outside some hospitals. The travesty of it was some medical facilities even went to the extent of not releasing the dead bodies of patients until exorbitant bills were settled which was also reported in the media. But amidst such a scenario there were two hospitals that went the extra mile to demonstrate their love for suffering humanity along the ethos of Mother Teresa. Holy Family Hospital, Bandra and Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri have been awarded the Harmony Foundation’s Mother Teresa Certificate of Honour at the hands of Governor of Maharashtra Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

In view of this, the Harmony Foundation said it was pleased to acknowledge the work of two particular renowned hospitals in Mumbai during the COVID 19 pandemic. “We would like to take this opportunity to appreciate the Holy Spirit Hospital, Andheri and the Holy Family Hospital, Bandra who stood firm in providing affordable healthcare services to all who entered its doors irrespective of their financial capabilities,” it said.

“Hospital such as these have displayed a rare mix of sacrifice and selflessness and have remained steadfast in the footsteps of Florence Nightingale and are examples for others to emulate,” said Abraham Mathai, chairman of the Harmony Foundation and former Vice Chairman of minority commission.
