‘Hope They Don’t Burn Homes’, Sanjay Raut Takes Jibe At PM’s ‘Diya’ Appeal

“When people were asked to clap, they crowded the roads and beat drums, I just hope now they don’t burn down their own houses,” Sanjay Raut said.

Mumbai| Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his appeal to citizens to hold lamps, candles and phone flashlights in an attempt to show solidarity and unity amid the fight against coronavirus. He said on Twitter, “Hope they don’t burn houses.”

“When people were asked to clap, they crowded the roads and beat drums, I just hope now they don’t burn down their own houses. Sir ‘diya to jalalenge’ but please tell us what the government is doing to improve the condition,” Raut said on his Twitter.

Last month, PM Modi had appealed people to observe one day Janata Curfew and to come out in their balconies and clap for those fighting the coronavirus on the front. He although had not asked anyone to come out of houses and stressed on practicing social distancing.

But in videos that surfaced later, it could be seen that in many places people gathered out of houses and celebrated the success of Janata Curfew risking the lives of many who could have been infected with the virus.

Referring to the same incidents, Sanjay Raut took a jibe on Prime Minister after his appeal on Friday to hold diyas, candles to show solidarity in the fight against Coronavirus.
