New Delhi | Hundreds of migrants workers from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh are forced to leave to the state of Gujarat amid fear after attacks on Non-Gujarati by the angry mob over the alleged rape of a 14-month-old minor.
According to reports, the locals started to attack the Hindi speaking migrants in Gujarat after the police arrested a person named Rabindra Sahu, a resident of Bihar for his alleged involvement in the rape of a 14-month-old girl in Sabarkantha district last week. The mob attacked the house of the migrants with stones and stick in areas of Gujarat such as Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Sabarkantha, Patan and Mehsana. The state police has arrested around 342 people in connection to these attacks. Feared for life the migrants are boarding buses and trains which goes to there home states along with their families
Speaking on the attacks, Director General of Police Shivanand Jha said that the attacks are taking place due to the spread of hate speech on the social media. Jha further claimed that the hate against Non-Gujarati speaking people is been spread on social media especially those living in Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar are been targeted. The Director General of Police also clarified that such attacks won’t be tolerated.
Addressing a press Conference the DGP Shivanand Jha further informed that “17 company and 1 platoon of State Reserve Police (SRP) has been deployed in the affected districts. 42 cases have been registered while 342 people arrested till now.”

Responding to the allegations that supporters of Congress MLA Alpesh Thakoor’s supporters fanned violence against UP, Bihar migrants after a rape case in Sabarkantha, Thakoor clarified, “This is unfortunate, we have never advocated violence and only talked peace. All Indians are safe in Gujarat.”

Meanwhile, the Opposition parties have criticised the Government for the attacks on the migrant workers. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav tweeted, “Dear Narendra Modi Ji, Is it ur so called ‘Wonder world of Gujrat’ you had sold to Nation in 2014? People from UP, Bihar, MP being mobbed in Gujarat. BJP/RSS has turned Gujrat into a nursery of hatred & violence against poor, dalits & minorities. Shameful!”

According to reports a 14-month-old girl belonging to the Thakoor community was allegedly raped in a village near Himmatnagar town of Sabarkantha district on September 28.
