Six decades of continuous efforts made IIT-Bombay “Institute of Eminence”: PM Modi

The Prime Minister said that the continuous efforts of IIT-Bombay in the last six decade has resulted in it earning the tag of being an Institution of Eminence.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that great ideas do not originate from government buildings or fancy offices but from the University campuses. He was addressing the students of IIT-Bombay during the 56th convocation. He further added that IIT no more means Indian Institute of Technology instead means ‘India’s Instrument of Transformation’. The Prime Minister said, “College’s continuous efforts in the last six decade has resulted in it earning the tag of being an Institution of Eminence.”

PM Modi said that the country can attain development through the use of sustainable technology which will lead o economic growth. He appealed the students of IIT-Bombay to focus on innovating in India. The Prime Minister said, “Innovation and enterprise are the foundation stones for India’s development.” “A long-term sustainable technology-led economic growth is possible on this foundation,” PM Modi said.

Stressing on the importance of innovation for developing country like India, he said that societies across the world who fail to innovate suffer growth stagnation. “Innovation is the buzz-word of the 21st century. India is emerging as a hub for start-ups, and that shows the thirst for innovation,” PM Modi said. he also appealed the students to make India an attractive destination for its innovation and enterprises.

PM Modi even added that the innovation should be carried out keeping in mind mitigating climate change, ensuring better agricultural productivity, cleaner energy, water conservation, to combating malnutrition and effective waste management.
