In first ever meeting, Ayodhya’s Ram temple trust to discuss the construction dates

The Central government had constituted an independent 15-member trust last week to oversee the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya

New Delhi: The Ram temple trust is going to the held first meeting on Wednesday. The declaration of date for the Ram temple’s construction is expected to be finalized during the meeting and two major people, who shall be practicing Hindus, are also likely to be nominated by the board of trustees with a majority resolution.

Last week a member of ‘Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra’ — a trust formed by the central government for building the temple in Ayodhya — Swami Vasudevanand Saraswati said that they will also discuss the inclusion of Ram Mandir Nyas chief Mahant Nritya Gopal Das in the trust.

Swami Govind Devgiri Maharaj, another trustee said that in Ayodhya the construction of Ram temple will commence either on Ram Navmi or Akshaya Tritiya in April. But official sources said that a decision will be taken after considering many aspects, including the feasibility and views of other stakeholders.

The Central government had constituted an independent 15-member trust last week to oversee the construction of a Ram temple in Ayodhya. The announcement was made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha a few days back.

As per the direction by the Supreme Court in its landmark verdict in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case in November 2019.

Around 15 members in the trust — 9 permanent and 6 nominated members – in the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust which will take decisions related to the construction of the temple. The Union government has also made nine rules which will be the basis of how the trust will work.
