Independence Day: Highlights of PM Modi’s speech

PM Modi said, “Triple Talaq has ruined the lives of Muslim women. Some people are trying to stall it, but I assure that I will get the bill passed.”

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed the nation from Red Fort on the occasion of 72nd Independence Day. He began wishing the country by congratulating the tribal children who hoisted Indian flag on Mount Everest. PM Modi enumerated the development projects undertaken by the Modi government in the last four years and stressed the importance of setting higher goals in life. He said that his government is committed to the development and betterment of the country. He also expressed hope that India will soon lead the world in the 4th Industrial Revolution on the foundation of the IT sector.

Here are the highlights:

  • The recently concluded Parliament session was one devoted to social justice. The Parliament session witnessed the passage of the Bill to create an OBC Commission.
  • The Constitution of India, given to us by Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar has spoken about justice for all. We have to ensure social justice for all and create an India that is progressing rapidly.
  • If we had continued at the same pace at which toilets were being built in 2013, the pace at which electrification was happening in 2013, then it would have taken us decades to complete them
  • The country is experiencing a change in the last four years. Highway construction speed is up 2 times. House construction speed is up by 4 times.

  • The demand for higher MSP was pending for years. From farmers to political parties to agriculture experts, everybody was asking about it but nothing happened. With the blessings of the farmers, the decision on MSP was taken by our Government.
  • Last year GST became a reality. I want to thank the business community for the success of the GST.
  • The OROP demand was pending for decades. The people of India, our brave army personnel had faith in us and we were able to take a decision on OROP. We will always take decisions in the interests of our nation.
  • India is being watched by the world. Before 2014, renowned economists, intellectuals used to say that the Indian economy is full of risk. Today they are saying reform momentum is strengthening the growth.
  • Technology testing for Ayushman Bharat will begin from this week. Pradhanmantri Jan Arogya Yojana will be launched from 25th September. People equal to


six crores duplicate beneficiaries were identified. The monumental task was undertaken by this government.

  • I salute the Honest taxpayers. There were 4 crores Direct taxpayers. But the number has increased since 2013. The number of direct taxpayers has grown to 6. 75 crores now.
  • 70 lakh indirect taxpayers were registered in the last 70 years. In the last one year, the number has gone above 1 crore.
  • No power brokers to be seen in Delhi. We are monitoring 3 lakh suspicious companies.
  • Stable commission to women in Army under Short Service Commission.

  • There are more women in the cabinet today. In MPs Katni, the rape accused were given death sentence within 5 days. The rape incidents in the country should pain us.
  • Triple Talaq has ruined the lives of Muslim women. We have brought the bill in parliament. Some people are trying to stall it, but I assure that I will get the bill passed.
  • The violence in Northeast has reduced. AFSPA has been revoked in Tripura and Meghalaya and many districts of Arunachal Pradesh. Left-wing extremism has reduced.
  • In Jammu And Kashmir, we want to follow Atal ji’s policies. In coming months Panchayat election will be held in Jammu and Kashmir.
  • “We believe in Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas. Thus, Housing for all, Power for all, Cooking for all, Water for all, Sanitation for all, Skill for all, Health for all, Insurance for all, Connectivity for all is our mantra.”
  • Malnutrition has become a bottleneck in the development of our children. I want to give the citizens of this country an ease of living.
  • I want India to lead the 4th Industrial Revolution on the foundation of the IT sector.
