India: 26,115 fresh Covid-19 cases, 13.9% lower than yesterday

Mumbai: India registered 26,115 fresh cases on Tuesday. The total case load reached to over 22.9 crore, 252 deaths in the last 24 hours pushed the death count to 4,45,385.

India’s active cases stand at 3,09,575, which is the lowest in 184 days. The daily positivity rate is 1.85% and the weekly positivity rate is 2.08%. Over 96.46 lakh vaccine doses were administered in last 24 hours. Maharashtra, which has the highest number of coronavirus cases in India, recorded 2,583 new infections.

15,692 people tested positive for the virus on Monday in Kerala, which has the highest single-day rise of cases in the country. The fresh cases pushed the tally of infections to over 45.24 lakh and 92 deaths took the death count to 23,683. Recovery rate currently at 97.75%; highest since March 2020. 55.5 crore samples tested for Covid-19 so far.

81.85 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive. India will resume export of Covid-19 vaccines under ‘Vaccine Maitri’ programme, halted in April due to domestic demand and tight supply, from October to meet commitments made to COVAX global pool, Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Monday. The decision comes days before PM Modi is due to fly to the US to address the UNGA and meet world leaders.
