As per 2017 data, the population of India is 1.33 billion while the population of China is 1.38 billion.
New Delhi | India is all set to overtake China as the world’s most populated country in the world in the coming eight years, as per the report by the United Nations.
In a Report titled, “The World Population Prospect 2019: Highlights” th United Nations have estimated that the world population is expected to increase by two million by 2050 i.e it will increase from 7.7 billion to 9.7 billion. The population of sub-Saharan Africa is also expected to double by 2050, the report added.
The report also mentioned 9 countries including India who are expected to register the biggest increase in their population. These countries include India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Indonesia, Egypt, USA and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Five of the 9 countries are situated in the African continent while 3 are from Asia. The population of China as per the report will decrease by 31.4 million between 2019 to 2050.
The report also states that the average life expectancy has increased from 64.2 years in 1990 to 72.6 years in 2019 and will further increase to 77.1 years in 2050. As per 2017 data, the population of India is 1.33 billion while the population of China is 1.38 billion.
