India Overtakes Brazil, Records More Than 1.61 Lakh Cases For The Second Consecutive Day

So far, about 1.37 crore people in the country have been affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Out of this, 1.22 crore have recovered.

 

Coronavirus cases in the country are rising at a terrifying pace. On Monday, India recorded more than 1,60,694 new patients were found. As many as 96,727 people recovered and 880 died. This was the second consecutive day when new coronavirus cases recorded were more than 1.60 Lakh.

So far, about 1.37 crore people in the country have been affected by the pandemic. Out of this, 1.22 crore have recovered. The death toll in the country has reached 1,71,089 have lost their lives. Active cases in the country, that is, the number of patients being treated has increased by 6,78,519 in just 11 days this month. On April 1, India recorded 5,80,387 active cases which have now increased to 12,58,906.

UPDATE:

  • Union Minister Santosh Gangwar has tested positive for Coronavirus. In October last year, 6 family members including Gangwar’s wife were infected.

 

  • E-pass has been made mandatory in Delhi’s Kalkaji temple in view of Coronavirus. All the devotees who visit here in Navratri will be given entry into the temple only after bringing an e-pass.

 

  • Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain said that coronavirus cases have reached new levels in the state. He requested citizens to leave the house only when it is necessary. Jain said that the state govt has increased the beds by 5,000 in the last few days.

 

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will hold a virtual meeting with governors of all states on the issue of coronavirus and vaccination on 14 April.
