Lockdown In Maharashtra This Week? Thackeray Govt Starts Preparations

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope himself has said that the government has started preparations for the lockdown.

 

Every day more than 50 thousand new cases of coronavirus are coming up in Maharashtra. Despite many restrictions like night curfew, weekend lockdown, Coronavirus cases continue to grow rapidly. In such a situation the state government has advocated for a lockdown in the state. According to the state government officials, a decision will be taken possibly on Wednesday, 14 April, and before that the rules and regulations to be implemented during the lockdown are being chalked out.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope himself has said that the government has started preparations for the lockdown. He has said that currently there are discussions on ways to reduce the side effects of lockdown.

According to reports, CM Uddhav Thackeray held a meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to discuss the rules. The Uddhav Thackeray government is currently considering how to address the shortage of oxygen supply, medicines and antiviral Remdesivir in the state. Apart from this, the scheme of providing food grains at low prices in the state is also being considered.

Aslam Sheikh, a minister in the Maharashtra government said thag the state government is preparing a full-proof plan as the cabinet discussed who should be allowed during the lockdown and for how many days. If people want to go somewhere or come back before the lockdown, they will get enough time. The minister has also sought help from the central government. He said, “The Centre earns about 50% of its revenue from Mumbai. We need its support to help our migrant workers and small scale businessmen. We request the Centre to provide a package and we will also contribute in the future. ”

 

‘Government making tough SOPs for festivals’

Aslam Sheikh also informed that the state government is also making stringent SOPs for the upcoming festivals. “There will be strict SOPs for festivals,” he said. “Otherwise, you can see how Covid cases have increased due to the permission given by the government for Haridwar Kumbh. These are the same people who maligned the Tablighi Jamaat and accused them of spreading disease,” he added.
