India registers 14,306 Covid-19 cases, 10% lower than yesterday

Mumbai: India lodged 14,306 fresh Covid-19 cases on Monday, 10% lower than yesterday. The recovery rate is currently at 98.18 per cent. Approximately 443 people have died of Covid in the last 24 hours.

At least 18,762 people have recovered in the last 24 hours. The total number of people who have recovered is 3,35,67,367. Active cases account for less than one per cent of total cases, currently at 0.49 per cent. The active caseload stands at 1,67,695, which is the lowest in 239 days.

The weekly positivity rate of 1.24% per cent is less than two per cent for the last 31 days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly Mann Ki Baat broadcast, said the success of India”s Covid vaccination drive shows its capability and noted that the country is moving ahead with new energy after crossing the 100 crore vaccine doses milestone.

On October 21, India achieved a major milestone in its vaccination programme against COVID-19 as the cumulative vaccine doses administered in the country surpassed the 100-crore mark.

Covid-19 cases in Maharashtra hit a 75-week low on Sunday while deaths fell below 20, the lowest in 34 weeks. The coronavirus death toll for Maharashtra reached 1,40,016.

India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeds 102.10 crores, informed Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. As per the release, “With the administration of 77,40,676 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 100 cr mark to reach 102.10 cr (1,02,10,43,258) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 1,01,28,910 sessions.”

Karnataka on Sunday reported 388 new COVID-19 cases. With this, the total number of cases rose to 29,85,986.

Bengaluru Urban accounted for a majority of the new cases (194), while many districts reported just one or no incidence of COVID-19. With five deaths, the toll rose to 38,007. Four of the patients who succumbed to the infection were from Bengaluru Urban, while one hailed from Tumakuru.

As many as 586 people were discharged on Sunday, taking the total recoveries to 29,39,239. The State has 8,711 active cases.

The positivity rate for the day touched 0.32%, while the case fatality rate (CFR) was at 1.28%.
