India Reports 18,870 New Cases, Country’s Drug Regulator Permits Trails Of Novavax Vaccine For Kids

New Delhi : India reports 18,870 new COVID cases in last 24 hours. With this the total number of COVID cases rises to 3,37,16,451. The total number of active cases has declined to 2,82,206, the lowest in last 192 days. The country reported 378 deaths. The country’s drug regulator have permitted the trails of Novavax vaccine for kids.

India’s recovery rate is 97.83%. More than 85.42 crore of vaccine shots have been administrated nationwide. 83.80 Lakh doses are in pipeline and will be administrated. 25% of country’s population is fully vaccinated.

The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation allows vaccine maker Serum Institute to start vaccine trails in India. The kids aged 7 to 11 years will be enrolling for the trail of US drug-maker Novavax’s COVID-19 vaccine. Serum Institute is already conducting a trial of its COVID-19 vaccine Covovax, a domestically produced version of Novavax’s shot, in the 12-17 age group and has presented safety data for an initial 100 participants.The Novavax vaccine is yet to be granted approval by the health authorities.

The daily positivity rate – number of positive cases identified per 100 – stands at 1.25 per cent less than 3 per cent for last 30 days.

Kerala being the lead of COVID cases reports 11,196 fresh cases in last 24 hours. However, the numbers have recently come down from the earlier 20,000 figure. The deaths in the state have jumped from 58 yesterday to 149 today.

Tamil Nadu being the second on the list, reports 1,630 cases. It also reported 19 Covid deaths.

Maharashtra reports 281 fresh COVID cases and 60deaths in last 24 hours.

Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state, reported 16 new cases and one Covid death. Neighbouring Delhi, the national capital, reported 34 cases and 2 Covid deaths.

Goa the tourist attraction reports 90 new cases and 5 deaths.

Mizoram reports 1,380 cases in last 24 hours. The state also reported four Covid deaths. It is followed by Assam, which reported 390 cases and 10 COVID deaths.

Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bihar the three big states, reported zero COVID deaths. Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand also reported zero COVID deaths.
