US President said India was there for the American people in their hour of need and the United States will be there for the country.

US President Joe Biden, after his phone call with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said India was there for the American people in their hour of need and the United States will be there for the country as it meets its worst-ever public health crisis.

Mr Biden and Mr Modi spoke on Monday as the Biden administration started preparing to provide assistance to India in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

The urgent help announced by the White House ranged from oxygen supplies, raw materials for COVID-19 vaccines, critical life-saving drugs to PPEs.

Today, I spoke with Prime Minister @narendramodi and pledged America’s full support to provide emergency assistance and resources in the fight against COVID-19. India was there for us, and we will be there for them,” Joe Biden tweeted.

After the conversation, PM Modi informed about it on Twitter. He said that he thanked the US President for his help. Shortly before this, Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga also dialed PM Modi.

PM Modi said on Twitter, “Had a fruitful conversation with @POTUS @JoeBiden today. We discussed the evolving COVID situation in both countries in detail. I thanked President Biden for the support being provided by the United States to India.”

He further said, “My discussion with @POTUS @JoeBiden also underscored the importance of smooth and efficient supply chains of vaccine raw materials and medicines. India-US healthcare partnership can address the global challenge of COVID-19.”

Before the talks between the leaders of the two countries over the phone, US representative in United Nations Linda Thomas said that the United States is doing everything possible to help India. She said that US is also making efforts to support India’s fight through supply of vaccine materials, ventilators and financials.

At the same time, the Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga said that the epidemic can be dealt with only by collective and collaborative efforts. Mutual cooperation between countries is very important. Suga also offered help to India on behalf of Japan.
