On Saturday, India’s coronavirus related deaths crossed 1 lakh mark with 1,069 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the union health ministry data showed. Pushing the recovery rate to 83.84 per cent, 54 lakh recoveries have been recorded from the infection since the outbreak.
With 79,476 new infections being reported in a day, the total coronavirus cases mounted to 64,73,544. The death toll climbed to 1,00,842 with the virus claiming 1,069 lives in a span of 24 hours, the data showed.

The country’s coronavirus tally crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23 and 40 lakh on September 5. It crossed 50 lakh on September 16 and 60 lakh on September 28.
As per ICMR, a cumulative total of 7,78,50,403 samples have been tested up to October 2, out of which 11,32,675 were tested on Friday.
