Indore Doctor Succumbs to Covid-19, First Death of Frontline Warrior in India

India reported its first death among frontline health workers due to COVID-19 with the demise of the physician.

Indore| Days after getting infected, a doctor in Indore succumbed to the coronavirus on Thursday. India reported its first death among frontline health workers due to COVID-19 with the demise of the physician.

A resident of Rupram Nagar of Indore, Dr. Shatrughan Panjwani was a family physician. He had tested positive for coronavirus a few days ago. He passed away on Thursday, informed the Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr. Pravin Jadiya.

He was first admitted to Gokuldas Hospital, from where he was later shifted to CHL Apollo Hospital in Indore. He was then moved to the Aurobindo Hospital, where he took his last breathe at 4 Am on Thursday.

With his demise, Indore has now reported 22 deaths with 213 coronavirus cases so far.

Dr. NL Heda, a resident of Itarsi of Hoshangabad, has also tested positive for coronavirus. He runs a clinic in Itarsi and 6 of her staffers have been kept in isolation after she tested positive. Also, 200 of his contacts have been to quarantine.

In Bhopal’s state health directorate, large numbers of physicians who worked at the facility, have tested positive for coronavirus.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in Madhya Pradesh has spiked to 381 with Indore reporting over half of those cases alone. Indore has been identified as one of the Covid-19 hotspots.
