“Is 50:50 new biscuit in the market?” Asaduddin Owaisi’s dig at Sena-BJP

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said while farmers in Maharashtra are worried about their problems, the BJP-ShivSena is doing 50-50.”

Mumbai| After the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the ShivSena and BJP emerged as the parties winning a majority of the seats . However, the tussle over the formation of the government and the Chief Ministerial post still continues.

The BJP wants its chief minister for five years, while the ShivSena is adamant on the 50-50 formula i.e. each party getting the CM post for 2.5 years. The indecisiveness continues even a week after the results.

Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Saturday lashed out at the parties over the 50:50 formula asking whether it’s the new biscuit in the market. Talking to a news agency, Owaisi asked, “What is 50-50, this is just new biscuits in the market. How much do you do 50-50? I say that you have been chosen by the people of Maharashtra, you do good work for them. Farmers here are worried about their problems, but the BJP-Shiv Sena is doing 50-50.”

ShivSena had also claimed that if the BJP doesn’t concede to its demands then it has other options. It is suspected that ShivSena is conducting backchannel talks with Congress and NCP for the support. When asked whether AIMIM too will support the formation, Owaisi rejected the idea. He said, “I do not know whether Devendra Fadnavis or any other Chief Minister will be made in Maharashtra. Here the musical chair is rotating. It is clear that AIMIM will not support BJP or Shiv Sena to form a government. ”

In other major development, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray met NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday.

Out of the total 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, BJP has won 105 and Shiv Sena has won 56 seats. A figure of 145 is necessary for the majority. The NCP has emerged as the third-largest party with 54 seats, while the Congress has won 44 seats.
